The Last Newspaper (on earth) Project
The Last Newspaper - Deadline May 31, 2026 and production date: June/July 2026
Newspapers were once the dominate information media everywhere on earth. Now newspapers are an antiquated artifact displaced by the digital eco-system. "All the news that's fit to print" manufactured consent of the readers to agree to the shared reality. Today this simple relationship has been fractured into a prism of truths, mis and dis-information, propaganda and billions of personal opinions and first-hand accounts of events.
This project will address the relationship between people and the printed medium while constructing a shared future reality when the printed word and image are set to become obsolete. A farewell to a medium (and a world) that once delivered local, regional and international news to your doorstep everyday. What will the last newspaper be useful for? You tell us! Perhaps something between the Whole Earth Catalogue and the Anarchist's Cookbook.
