Both paintings are part of the 2025 trilogy Gestes. The Gesture of Contemplation critiques Western opacity toward contemporary genocides. A figure reads the 2022 Brazilian edition of Gaza, Land of Poetry, while seventeen butterfly species native to Gaza—painted at natural scale after ecological research—symbolize the seventeen young poets whose work persisted despite global apathy.

The first work, A Gesture of Insufficiency, shifts to the lived reality of loss. The adult figure perceives danger where light enters the scene, while a child focuses on surrounding cultural details that sustain a fragile sense of possibility. Butterflies reappear as carriers of memory, joined by Palestinian flora and other semiotic references to the conflict. Together, these two acts expose the limits of passive observation and the urgency of acknowledging every life and generation threatened by both hard and soft powers of the war.
